Offering solutions to horse and rider.
Jo's interest in horses started when she was three years old, when she met and started riding a small Shetland pony named
“Half Pint” which was kept on the farm next door to where she lived.
She went on to own her own ponies and horses whilst, also, taking riding lessons from a very early age.
Her interest in riding and events never dwindled throughout her school years and Jo eventually studied at
Hartpury College, UWE where she attained a BSC in Equine Science.
When she left Hartpury, Jo was employed as a riding instructor at Milfield School (Somerset), where she achieved her
BHS II exam, and then as a rider and trainer at Warren Equestrian (Somerset), where she qualified numerous young horses
Young Event Horse Finals at Burghley.
Jo has built up a very good reputation, within Somerset and beyond, as a trainer as well as a rider.
For a number of years she has been a riding instructor for several Riding/Pony Clubs in Somerset, as well as a 4* Star Event Rider.
She has competed many horses in both disciplines over the years, taking her own horse, Princess Spikkel, up to
British Dressage Grand Prix, and has achieved some great results whilst competing at National Level in British Dressage.
Since Spikkel turned to pure Dressage in 2007:
Winter Championships 2008 – 5th in the Elementary
Winter Championships 2011 – 6th in the Advanced Medium Freestyle to Music
Winter Championships 2012 – Advanced Medium and Advanced Medium Freestyle to Music
Winter Championships 2015 – Petplan Area Festival Prix St George.
At the same time, she has continued her own training: currently being trained by Pammy Hutton. In the past, she has also received training from Sarah Cheetham, Danny Anholt and Helen Griffiths.
Jo trains other competitors for similar events and members of Pony and Riding Clubs.
“I really enjoy helping people who are trying to improve their riding skills and compete at a higher level.“ says Jo.
A sentiment we know she holds dear to herself.
"Jo Lashley excels in training horses and riders. Her flatwork training is second to none, the key building block to a successful
partnership in any discipline. She is quick to pick up issues with horses and riders, and even better at offering a variety of
solutions to dealing with them. Many of her competition horses have come to her with problems, and she has proved her
ability to turn them into successful, balanced competition horses in all 3 disciplines. "
"Jo Lashley is a superb dressage and event rider, achieving outstanding results from novice horses. She is, also,
a regular trainer of horses, ponies and pupils with an ability to turn them into competition equines and riders."
